As the Ontario government moves into stage 3 of their COVID-19 reopening framework, we examine how public health authorities are tracking transmission rates and the role workplace health and safety measures can play in helping to keep these rates from exploding exponentially.
We need only look south of our border to know what can happen when the reopening of an economy does not keep an eye on the reproduction rate of this dreaded disease and much needed health and safety protocols to combat it. Now is the time to redouble our efforts to learn and act on every reasonable precaution necessary to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
Let’s reopen Ontario safely.

As Ontario’s only designated health and safety training centre, the Workers Health & Safety Centre supports workers, their representatives, supervisors, contractors and employers in every work sector with comprehensive training programs and information services. In all we do, we put workers first. After all, it is their lives and livelihoods that are affected most when workplace hazards, including the COVID-19 virus, go uncontrolled.
